What’s In A Name?

Is Mr. Hunter by any other name still a nerd?

Hello world! I'm Mr. Hunter, a 26-year-old Game Designer-turned-English Teacher from Vancouver, Canada. I currently live and work in Ibaraki, Japan. If you stumbled upon this blog, it's a pleasure to e-meet you; if you're a returning visitor, welcome back!

I'm a self-proclaimed nerdy ex-theatre kid who enjoys video games, anime, singing, and dancing. In this corner of the internet, I'll be jotting down thoughts, sharing my experiences, and hopefully, getting my students and fellow teachers excited about reading in English. Expect each piece to come in two flavors – an advanced version for those who enjoy diving deep into topics, and a learners’ version for non-native speakers.

Before I found my way to game design, I dreamt of becoming a writer. While I still harbor hopes of writing for games someday, this blog is my current playground for flexing those writing muscles. Maybe down the line, I'll even attempt articles in Japanese, but that's a journey for another day.

Some have suggested vlogs, and while the idea is on the table, for now, I'm sticking to the written word. A blog feels more my style, allowing me to sound coherent and, dare I say, smart. If you were hoping for short, bite-sized content, my writing style tends to be long-winded – with a penchant for commas (and brackets).

Stay tuned for more of my adventures in life and in writing. Feel free to join the conversation, share your thoughts, or toss topic ideas my way. Let's make this journey a shared experience!
