Please Enjoy My Musings
Hello World!
My name is Mr. Hunter, I’m an English teacher from Vancouver, Canada. I live and work in Ibaraki, Japan.
New Musings are posted every Monday and Wednesday at 10AM!(JST)
For our next day in Tokyo, we went on a bit of a festival tour, ending up at three different festivals, one for beer, another for meat, and finally, ice cream. I also got to see some parts of Tokyo I never really had a reason to visit. It was a stellar day with good company.
For our first full day of our trip, we had a few things lined up, but it was mostly going to be a chill exploratory day. Henry had found a crying baby festival taking place at Senso-ji temple in Asakusa, so we centered our day around that and played the rest by ear.
For Golden Week last year, my family came to visit, and it was a lovely time together. This year for Golden Week, my friend Henry was coming to visit. After a few hours together I knew I this would be a great vacation.
Sakura, or cherry blossoms were in full bloom recently, and since this might be my last chance to see them here in Japan, I decided this year I was absolutely going to do hanami, or cherry blossom viewing.
As I teased in my last article, my unexpected invitation ended up being twofold! The second part was taking part in a cosplay meetup. I might have worn a cosplay costume for Halloween, but this was the big leagues.
Otaku’s Oasis articles go up every Friday at 10AM!
Before and after release this is a game that had a lot of buzz. I was pretty skeptical, even resistant to buying into the hype, but despite a few rough edges, this game has me completely enamoured.
Sometimes when I'm struck by a feeling of sadness or regret I think of and rewatch a favorite film of mine. It's something that can bring a sense of comfort and familiarity. But it's also a way to reflect on and recognize what these films mean to me personally.
Genre for games has gotten pretty out of hand. For the most part, I pay it no mind, but when it comes to the term JRPG, Japanese Role-Playing Game, I’ve got some issues.
The Zero Escape and Danganronpa series are both top notch in my book, so when a new visual novel tactics game was released with both creators serving as directors, I had pretty high expectations. Somehow, this game managed to exceed them.
Blue Prince is a puzzle roguelike game that was released to critical acclaim on April 10th, 2025. This wasn’t a game on my radar, but for many critics it was this year’s first must-play game.
The Switch is the second-highest selling Nintendo console, but after the Switch 2 Direct, I’m not quite sure the Switch 2 will surpass it. These may not be burning hot takes, but I have plenty of thoughts.
Today, I finally got to see an iconic landmark, Tokyo Tower. I even got to climb all 600 steps outside of the tower up to the view point. It didn’t stop there as we strolled through Roppongi Hills, and by the end of the day, my feet were killing me.
